News, Notes, and Rants
(Newest stuff in red)

-(June 21, 2005): Here's my list of the lyrically-best New Wave songs. Tell me yours.

-(June 20, 2005): Duran Duran has announced they will headline the Rome Live8 concert! Also, their next studio album will be released in time for summer 2006. Great news for us Duranies! But can they duplicate the success of the awesome Astronaut ?

-(5/24/05): I don't want to hear ABC singing about how great Motown was. I don't want Berlin sounding like lame Heart clones, or Howard Jones morphing into some kind of Michael Bolton lite. I want a younger Jones wondering when we as a society are going to get over "the fad of the electric guitar". I want The Box gleefully dancing on the grave of rock. I want Kim Wilde warning us that something big is coming. This is New Wave, and nothing is sacred now.

-(2/03/05): Curious to see my worst New Wave song list? Check out these stinkers.

-(27/03/05): I just finalized my New Wave Top 50! Check it out, and let me know what you think of my choices.

-(16/03/05): Okay, things are spruced up a bit. Check the commentary section for information on the two Temple Of New Wave CD compilations I've made. You too can download/rip and burn the songs, and have official copies of this TONW product! How cool is that?

-(22/10/04): Well, Duran Duran's Astronaut album has finally hit the stores. The first single, "(Reach Up For The) Sunrise" is climbing the upper reaches of the charts as we speak. It's a good time to be a Duran fan, let me tell you. On another note, does anyone besides me think Robbie Williams's new song, "Radio", sounds very New Wave? The start of a trend? Let's hope so.

-(10/8/04): Falconhawk, Calgary's synth-based indy band, hit Halifax on Saturday, August 7th! The Temple of New Wave was there, and we got an interview with the band. Click here for the details.
Kara Keith & the boys
Falconhawk: (L to R) Steve Elaschuk, Dave Alcock, and Kara Keith.

-(21/5/04): Not to offend anyone, but did the band Spandau Ballet produce any listenable tunes in their entire 6-album history? Even True sounds better sampled in that P.M. Dawn rap song. I just finished downloading a bunch of Spandau Ballet songs on the recommendation someone made to me via e-mail, and all I can say is damn, that is one terrible band.
